Technical Sales Lead

We are looking for a technically minded sales specialist to drive growth across our products and advanced measurement services. You will combine strong commercial instincts with engineering and product depth to speak confidently with customers in aerospace, defence, rail, energy, motorsport, and research.

This role will suit someone who enjoys developing new relationships, uncovering real technical requirements, and shaping solutions that deliver clear, measurable value for the customer.

  • Location: Ideally, Basingstoke, Hampshire with remote location a possibility. The role will require UK & Ireland travel; occasional European trips

About Delta XD

Delta XD is a precision engineering consultancy specialising in advanced measurement, inspection and test. We support aerospace, defence, rail, energy, motorsport, research and high-value manufacturing – delivering high-accuracy data where it is needed most.

Our core services include 3D scanning, dimensional inspection, reverse engineering, fixture design, production verification and full-field optical testing. We provide both mobile services and automated solutions, including ZEISS ScanBox platforms.

We are also the ZEISS Certified Metrology Partner for the UK & Ireland for ARAMIS, TRITOP, PONTOS and ARGUS – responsible for new system sales, training and aftercare support across industry, research, and academia. Delta XD is an active member of the EIS and BSSM, and is continually expanding its role within the UK 3D testing and experimental mechanics community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical sales for ZEISS ARAMIS, TRITOP, ARGUS, PONTOS and associated metrology solutions.
  • Develop new business across target sectors and grow existing accounts through consultative selling.
  • Work closely with customers to understand measurement challenges and specify the right mix of systems, services, and training.
  • Plan and deliver live demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials and workshops, both at Delta XD and on customer sites.
  • Collaborate with the applications and engineering team to scope, price and propose high-value solutions.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from first contact through quotation, negotiation, and handover into delivery.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and forecasting information in our CRM tools.
  • Represent Delta XD at exhibitions, conferences, user days and customer events.
  • Feed market insight back into Delta XD and ZEISS to help shape future offerings and product development.
  • Support marketing content with case-study input, application notes and customer success stories.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in technical or solution sales – ideally capital equipment, measurement, test, high-speed cameras or similar engineering systems.
  • Comfortable discussing engineering problems with design, quality and test teams, and translating needs into practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal and presentation – with confidence in front of both engineers and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage your own territory or field of expertise, prioritise opportunities and keep to agreed follow-up actions.
  • Good working knowledge of 3D measurement, metrology, inspection or mechanical testing (formal DIC experience is a bonus but not essential).
  • Eligible to work in the UK, with a clean UK driving licence.
  • Based within commutable distance of Basingstoke, is ideal or willingness to travel regularly (UK & occasional Europe)

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience with ZEISS ARAMIS or other DIC / optical metrology systems.
  • Background in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, structural, or materials engineering.
  • Experience selling into aerospace, defence, rail, energy, motorsport or advanced R&D environments.
  • Familiarity with 3D scanning, ScanBox automation, GD&T, or dimensional inspection workflows.
  • Experience creating technical proposals, ROI justifications and structured account plans.

Location
