ARGUS

Optical solution for forming analysis
Image

ARGUS is crucial in optimising the sheet metal forming processes.

Using the principles of photogrammetry to precisely measure before and after forming, enables a full field evaluation of surface strains on components. The results will bring to life what's really happening in your process and validate simulation models.

Why ARGUS?

  • Fast, easy evaluation of forming processes
  • Simple validation of simulations
  • Mobile solution for components of any size

EVALUATION OF FORMING AND SURFACE STRAINS

shape change analysis

ARGUS records 3D coordinates of components in order to evaluate forming conditions and surface strains of sheet metal components after forming. The System compares the measurement data obtained from the photogrammetry camera with the material's forming limit curve and determines whether areas are too deformed or are still within a certain tolerance range. Regardless of the size of the components, the optical sensor system captures surfaces holistically and generates reliable measurement data for the validation of simulations.

Optimising the forming process

By fully understanding the perhaviour of the material under test, the end user is perfectly informed to ensure the correct choice of material, as well as optimise the forming tools and stamping forces.

The forming analysis system ARGUS, supports the end user improvement journey by showing the precise behaviour of the sheet metal component in a 3D image map which brings to life what's happening in side the press.

Evaluation

Evaluation of the results can be carried out in a short period of time. The full-surface information is displayed including the deformation across the whole component.

Expect to see the main and secondary deformation, thickness reduction, forming limit changes, formability and more.

Application

The applications are everything you need to support pre-production and production in the stamping and forming process.

  • Tool try-out
  • Validation and optimisation of forming simulations
  • Series production ramp up
  • Material acceptance test
  • Research and development of the forming process
  • Detection of critical deformation areas
  • Solving complex forming problems
