Delta XD is looking for a motivated Metrology Technician to support high-accuracy dimensional inspection and measurement projects across a range of industries. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with an HNC, HND or BTEC in a technical discipline who is looking to build a long-term career in metrology.
You will work alongside experienced engineers, receive structured training on advanced measurement systems, and gain hands-on experience delivering real-world inspection projects for leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

This includes ARAMIS, TRITOP, PONTOS and ARGUS systems supporting static and dynamic material and component testing across industry and research sectors.
Based in Basingstoke and operating nationally and internationally, Delta XD combines deep technical expertise with rapid delivery—helping OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers maintain precision and confidence in their products and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support dimensional inspection activities using 3D scanning and optical measurement systems.
- Assist with on-site measurement work at customer facilities across the UK.
- Carry out CAD comparisons and learn to interpret engineering drawings.
- Receive full training in ZEISS GOM hardware and software, GD&T principles, and automation tools.
- Contribute to inspection and measurement projects across aerospace, rail, defence and manufacturing.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop practical metrology skills and best practice.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant technical qualification (HNC, HND, BTEC or degree in an engineering or technical discipline).
- Some hands-on experience or academic exposure to measurement, inspection or engineering tools.
- A clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- UK nationality (must meet UK and US military security clearance requirements).
- A positive attitude and eagerness to develop technical and practical skills.
- Based within commutable distance of the Delta XD office in Basingstoke, or willing to relocate.
Desirable
- Basic Python experience or an interest in automation and scripting.
- Familiarity with CAD software or metrology / inspection tools.
- Placement, apprenticeship or project experience in an engineering environment.
